THE SCENE IS LIFE why watch
a movie about it, and of course
why read about OUR carvorting

and I do not mean I/WE are acting
I think what we go/are going through
IN THE DAILY droll is why we
do not need to see/read about
this SCENE.

when we are children do we act as if
we have to read about how to play
have to verify play through
some knowledge base
THOUGH I can see NOW
our DATABASE of play has its following
which is as UNDERGROUND as it was
when the SCENE started in the '70s [sixties??]

I mean when you walked into the
OLYMPIC AUDITORIUM
downtown you were in a different world
punk gangs as bouncers
smells not of incense but CLOVE CIGARETTES
seats, well they were up above the stage "ring area"
with lots of space to stand/SLAM/listen/WATCH

You were sweating?
NO THE WHOLE PLACE WAS SWEATING
until it was time to go outside to the
steamy cold and the LAPD

always 3 to 4 bands played with the last band
hopefully being some punk foreigners like
EXPLOITED *
AND THE OTHERS A HEFTY SMATTERING
of OC/SOUTHBAY/NARDCORE/
SUICIDAL/LA&VALLEY PUNK BANDS

TSOL / BLACK FLAG / ILL REPUTE /
ENTROPY / WEIRDOS & WASTED YOUTH /

and you could talk to band members
if you weren't slamming with them *

and these fleeting few hours ARE PIERCED
INTO OUR BRAINS FOREVER the drama
in simple musical beats and RAGE
kenetic movements abounds even from
those MOTIONLESS

yes,
as glorified by the GTO's in the 60's
THE MAYOR OF THE SUNSET STRIP
rODNEY bINGENHIEMER the radio jock
was a link if you believe to the SCENE
whereas the ladies wanted to go to
the STARWOOD on the Strip to dance
while Rodney spun newwave it got boring
fast a large club and a live band room
it was WEIRD THESE FAST BANDS PLAYING,
AND IT SEEMED ALMOST, NO EVERY TIME
the L.A. Sheriffs were coming in and
carting someone off, why I do not know,
at least then [ probably for stage diving
what else ] the atmosphere was thick with
a freedom musical people freedom.

Geza X there one day,
we went there alot
I remember the circle jerks

anthem HERE-*

and fear with flea ! and the gears, plugz...
at home we HAD TO no signal put in cable
USA network new allowed wierd late nite
features like NEW WAVE THEATER many
local new wave and punk bands [ i.e. wet picnic ]
which also played the Starwood.
-by the way the USA network celebrated its 25th year,
NO MENTION OF THE NEW WAVE PUNK
BROADCASTS of THEIR BEGININGS.
This TV show was all LA Punk
THE WEIRDOS, blasters, raw punk
and new wave FRESH AIR freedom
no I never went to the vex nor the masque
but I did go to
GODZILLAS in the Valley
We knew the guy who rented the place
to the stern BROS.
and I had just gotten into video had some
hot reel to reel video plug in only
I could have gotten the Damned then *
oh well, did later anyway...

about 1996, see I gave it a name befit of our genre.

it was the STARDUST BALLROOM right on Sunset ,
now a Home Depot, BACK THEN and that be way
back to a time not forgotten the 80's
probably the Circle Jerks in '84 backstage
and I was taping some punk body art and
atmosphere when Gerber took the mike
and spoke of her life, living with Chuck Bisquits,
living on the streets, all so wonderful
this was, she said,
because it was THE SCENE...

This was just a further explanation
of the breath of life flurishing
through many of us, for various reasons,
feeling the FREEDOM among us.
OH YES, punk does mean KILL ONE'S SELF
-what does that mean ?
MAYBE just that.
THAT IS death to the old AND
breathe life to what's new:
again PUNK ROCK SAVED MY LIFE.
Oh there are no or many transformations
of the mind -
ENTROPY constant chaos not change.
None of us want to change anything,
EXCEPT for ourselves, not
to change anything else WE LIVE HERE .
