It was a great night

in Highland Park when BOB LEE of BACKBITER
got a bunch of great friends together to give tribute
to Sid Barret with a wonderful set changing band
members per song. Musicians included members
of BACKBITER, BANYAN and the URINALS to
mention just a few. I haven't been to Mr. T'S in
quite a while and found ARLO and his famous sound
board playing to a new stage area and the old
WOODEN bowling alley nooks and the whole
show FANTASTIC !

THAT guy on the right pic above is BOB LEE the
mastermind who formed this production

Back in 1983 till 1985 I was the music promoter
for the Cathay De Grande of Hollywood.
Top Jimmy and the Rhythm Pigs were
one of the most popular bands that I booked.
The reason you do not hear about them
any more is because Jimmy passed away
soon after the band made their first album.
Carlos still plays at different clubs around
and has a fairly new album himself.
Saturday night I went to a show at Safari
Sams to video tape and ran into Jaime working
security at the show. Jaime used to work
security at the Cathay De Grande when I
worked there, and it was great to find an old friend.

This smokin' 1987 album may prove to

be the only document of this legendary

L.A. bar band. During a two-year regular

Monday night residency at Hollywood's

now-defunct Cathay de Grande,

Top Jimmy And The Rhythm Pigs

played host to guest appearances by

Tom Waits, David Lee Roth, Maria McKee,

and members of X and the Blasters,

among others. Tunes include

"Workingman's Blues," "Framed,"

Otis Rush's "Homework," Jimi Hendrix's

"Spanish Castle Magic," Howlin' Wolf's

"Do the Do," Bob Dylan's "Ballad of a

Thin Man," and others.
